What to expect during a groom session with Energy Paws Grooming?

Arrive 5 minutes prior to appointment so we can settle in and get started on time. The client drops their dog off and does errands out while we groom your fur friend.

Allie will do a quick assessment of the dog and do a mini Reiki grounding and energy cleanse to support the dog come into a state of calm and safety. We then head to the bath for a full scrub, followed by ear cleaning, nail trimming and fluff blow dry and if you have booked in for our signature full groom, we finish with a hand scissored trim to your liking or to a breed standard trimming.

What if my dog has matting in his/her fur?

Our pain-free 10-minute consultation prior to the grooming treatment is designed to assess the dog honestly and transparently - we strive to make the treatment as quick and calmy as we can for the dog - this is our top priority. Occasionally a very good detangle is required and this will incur an additional fee of $40/hour. Rarely it is unsalvageable and impossible to brush out the matting at the dog will require a shave. Rest assured that is a last resort option.

Our top priority is ensuring the comfort of the dog and ruling out any skin ailments that may need to be addressed.

With due diligence as the beloved owner for at-home care and brushing, we rarely need to do a full shave of matting. If you would like breed-specific guidance for at home care, please give us a call.

How often should I groom my dog?

This depends on the breed and coat of your dog; we recommend the average groom to be done between 4-8 weeks. This keeps your pet’s coat maintained and more manageable in between visits. Therefore, leaving your pet more comfortable and the owner can be more aware of any visible skin ailments. A groomer’s job is to assess for any possible signs of distress with your pet.

How do you calm anxious dogs?

For many years clients have sought my services because we have a no cage policy, in addition we only take one dog at a time - this means that there won’t be any other dogs caged or penned in another room barking, your pup will have the studio to him/herself.

My recent studies have led me to becoming a certified Reiki Practitioner, specializing in animals. Every treatment offers a mini-Reiki energy assessment and cleanse that feels grounding and calming for your beloved dog.

Why do your prices vary per breed? Can’t you just have a blanket grooming price?

All breeds have specific needs and personalities. I have 20 years’ experience grooming and I meet each fur client as an individual and tailor the service to that breeds standard.
